This 1878 Plot map of Omaha, Nebraska shows the land incorporated in 1870. Included in this incorporation was the land donated in 1872 to make the first city park, Hanscom Park. The incorporation extended the city limit to what is now known as 36th Street. The Field Club Historic District is located between the park and 36th street. It is colored in orange.
From this map you can see that in 1878 many of the streets in the district did not exist or had other names. Present day 32nd Avenue was called Madison Avenue, 33rd Street was called Liberty Avenue, 35th Street was called Main Street. The only east-west street that existed was Pine Street, and it was only a county road then.
The green markings represent the addition or extension of other streets into the district. These streets would be incorporated in to Omaha's Park and Boulavard system in 1912.
